Who We Are
The Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Service (SCEMS) Ride-Along Program is designed to allow citizens, EMS (Emergency Medical Technician & Paramedic) students, and affiliated partners the opportunity to ride-along with an EMS crew to better understand how SCEMS operates and what crews do, day-in and day-out.
What We Do
There are a few requirements that must be met first prior to approval of your first ride-along. You must:
1. Complete a $16 background check, paid for by you (only applicable for citizen ride-alongs).
2. Watch the HIPAA video and sign the HIPAA acknowledgement form.
3. Review and sign the non-disclosure agreement.
4. Watch EMS ride-along orientation video
5. Schedule fit-testing (If you have done a fit-test within the last calendar year, you will need to provide a copy of the certificate).
6. Print EMS Ride-Along Rider Release form and bring that to your ride-along.
7. Select a ride-along shift for consideration by SCEMS personnel. EMS shifts are based on 12 hour blocks (6am - 6pm, 9am - 9pm, 12pm - 12am, 6pm - 6am). Please show up 30 mins prior to shift.
