Volunteer: CERT Basic Training Weekend - Mar 27-29, Valley Center Community BldgThe CERT Basic Training Weekend is a 20-hour FEMA program held on a Friday evening, all-day Saturday, and Sunday afternoon. All of the modules are designed to be delivered as one class. By registering for CERT Basic Training Class, it is assumed you will attend each module of the weekend. Participants who attend all modules will receive a certificate of completion which may be recognized nationally in other communities and allows access to future volunteer opportunities. There is no additional volunteer commitment associated with this class. CERT Basic Training Weekend is designed for public education, however, it does open the door for you to join our Advanced CERT Team in the future. Community Emergency Response Team training is designed and open for all adult ages, shapes, sizes, abilities, disabilities, backgrounds, and skill levels. Coffee, Water, and snacks will be provided every day. Lunch will be provided on Saturday. Below is a list of program requirements that must be completed PRIOR to scheduling your ride-along Step 1 (Click the "SIGN UP" button at the top right or bottom of the page to begin) 1. Sign up for a SGRedi account or login if you already have one. 2. Locate the background check button and sign up for a Sterling Volunteers account Creating an account with Sterling Volunteers will allow you to register for and order a background check ($16). Once the background check has been completed, wait for an email indicating whether or not you are eligible for step 2.Step 2 2. Watch the HIPAA video and sign the HIPAA acknowledgement form. 3. Review and sign the non-disclosure agreement. 4. Watch EMS ride-along orientation video. 5. Print EMS Ride-Along Rider Release form and bring that to your ride-along. 6. If you have done a fit-test within the last calendar year, you will need to submit a copy of the certificate. Step 3 7a. If you did not submit a fit-test certificate, you will receive an email from a Sedgwick County EMS personnel to schedule and complete fit testing.
